
You will make a compelling online portfolio to promote your work to potential employers or for freelance assignments.
Assignment:
- Make your homepage a static page with navigation links that work throughout.
- Make your home page special. Grab the attention of your viewer.
- Use your best photo or a short best of the best slideshow on the homepage.
- You may use SquareSpace, Format, SmugMug, SoloFolio, Weebly, Adobe Portfolio or any other online portfolio service.
- Choose your headings wisely. Typically, Singles, Stories, Videos at minimum.
- Gather your singles and videos.
- Build content by creating pages .
- Include an About page and write a compelling bio. Include a professional quality portrait of yourself.
- Include a resume.
- Make it easy for viewers to contact you.
- Showcase your images and videos in a prominent and easy to navigate manner.
- Simplicity is your friend.
- Functionality and usability will be the two main criteria used for grading. – Class discussion
- Remember, your portfolio is only as strong as your weakest photo or video.
- You cannot see your work as clearly as an unattached viewer. Get a professional or a graduating photojournalism senior to review your portfolio before you submit it. Get as many eyes on it as possible.
